Cotton made in Africa
Newsletter
Issue 5 / November 17, 2008
Dear readers, friends and supporters of the Cotton made in Africa:
In today’s edition of our newsletter, we turn to the question of Africa’s image in German media. As one of Germany’s most forward-looking commitments to Africa’s future, the Cotton Made in Africa project is deeply interested in the issue. One of our goals is to get people talking about Africa in greater depth. We want to involve stakeholders, businesspeople, theorists, and researchers to generate a more comprehensive picture in both words and images. To get started, we asked around: Why do forward-looking ideas and projects attract so little media attention? In addition, we will show you the year’s most beautiful coffee-table book about Africa, with incomparable pictures by the American photographer George Steinmetz. Perhaps a nice holiday gift idea?

We hope you will enjoy taking a look at:
Opinion poll: Africa beyond clichés, conflicts, crises, and catastrophes: Illusion or reality? Why do promising ideas and projects receive so little attention in German media? >>
Astonishing glimpses of a different Africa: Essay by Reimer Gronemeyer und Matthias Rompel >>
Africa keeps growing: The new OECD report, African Economic Outlook 2008 >>
Photo excepts and review: George Steinmetz’s Afrika - African Air >>

Wishing you intriguing and enjoyable reading,
