The Foundation

Cotton made in Africa project is maintained by the Aid by Trade Foundation. The Foundation was founded in 2005 by Dr. Michael Otto. As institutional partners, well-known enterprises, associations and state bodies are involved and represented on its board of trustees.

Project Advisory Board

The Cotton made in Africa project is supported by a broad alliance of strong partners, who play a part in the realisation of the project, who finance activities or provide advisory support through their experts. Office

The offices in Hamburg control the projects and coordinate the collaboration between project partners. The executive board leads the meetings of the project advisory board and prepares the meetings of the board of trustees.

Strategic Alliance

The Cotton Made in Africa Strategic Alliance includes partners in industry, the public sector, the research community, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs). The Strategic Partners contribute to the CmiA initiative both with their financial support and through general and technical consulting. Their common goal is to raise living standards and preserve the natural environment in the CmiA project regions while exploiting synergies that amplify project effectiveness.

Through their Zambian operation, Dunavant actively participates in the project "Cotton Made In Africa" by supporting Zambian small scale farmers to grow cotton and supplying them with the required inputs and certified treated planting seed. Dunavant also provides the necessary extension services to assist farmers in yield enhancement at the different stages of growing cotton.

Stiftung Umwelt und Entwicklung Nordrhein-Westfalen

The North Rhine-Westphalian Foundation for the Environment and Development supports civil society engagement in North Rhine-Westphalia. Non-profit organisations can receive advice and funding for projects in the field of environment and development. The foundation in particular sponsors projects relating to environmental protection, nature conservation, development policy as well as intercultural learning.Between 2001 and 2005 the North Rhine-Westphalian Foundation for the Environment and Development has funded about 500 projects with 32 million Euro. The Foundation receives its funds from the proceeds of the Oddset betting system.
